Based in Albuquerque, NM, Elsie Stott is a passionate crafter and middle school band director who has been immersed in creative endeavors for as long as she can remember. Inspired by her mother’s inventive and resourceful approach to crafting, Elsie grew up sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and designing handmade ornaments. Her namesake, her grandmother, was a prolific crocheter who filled their family with an abundance of afghans, pillows, and purses. Learning to crochet alongside her grandmother and mother sparked a lifelong love for the craft, though knitting never quite captured her heart. Over the years, crochet has remained a constant, a craft that brings her immense joy and connection.

As an adult, crafting has seamlessly woven itself into both Elsie's personal life and her career as a band director. In her classrooms, she designs custom wall decor, hands-on learning tools, and thoughtful staff gifts that add a personal and creative touch to the work environment. Beyond the classroom, she has expanded her crafting passions to include jewelry-making, beading, and paper crafting—but crochet remains her steadfast favorite. She is also the proud mother of a wonderfully creative daughter who shares her enthusiasm for crafting, particularly in sculpting and working with clay.
